Limak’s ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls Program’ Welcomes Turkish President Erdoğan to Kuwait With Successful Program Near Completion

Ahead of his visit to Kuwait President Erdogan met with Limak’s ‘Turkey’s Engineer Girls Program’ in Beştepe, Turkey

Kuwait City, Kuwait — On the sidelines of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his honorable delegation’s visit to Kuwait this week, the ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls Program’ held one of their last training sessions with a 2-day course taught on-site at Limak Inşaat Kuwait. With one more module left in the semester the project-based learning program will mark its first year of success this December.

‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls Program’ is a joint project implemented through a partnership between Kuwait University, Turkey’s Boğaziçi University and Limak Inşaat Kuwait. The Program aims to equip young female engineers with the tools necessary to compete and succeed in the future workplace and help them envision their future careers in engineering.

The Kuwait Program, modelled after a successful program launched in 2015 by Limak in Turkey, kicked off in September 2017 with 35 undergraduate female engineers covering 12 courses over 200 training hours. Upon completion of the Program the graduates will receive a Business Technology Education Council (BTEC) Management and Leadership certificate recognized in over 100 countries worldwide and 3 Semester Credit Hours from Kuwait University.

Hosted November 11-12, the 2-day course on Quality Engineering and Management taught by Turkish Professor Dr. Ali Rıza Kaylan, stemmed directly from his lectures delivered on a semester basis at Boğaziçi University. During the session the 35 female engineers covered the fundamental methods of quality engineering with a major emphasis on the statistical tools of quality engineering systems.

Taught on a weekly basis by a different Boğaziçi University Professor or permanent Limak staff member, other topics covered during the course of the semester include: Finance, Investment and Finance Models for Engineers; New Trends in World Economics – International Trade and Marketing; Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED); Project Planning and Change Management; and more.

Limak’s support for female engineers in Kuwait is part of the company’s greater regional efforts to add permanent value to Kuwait’s society by supporting education and learning opportunities in the fields of construction, engineering, architecture, and project management. The ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls Program’ stems from Limak and Kuwait University’s General Cooperation agreement signed on May 8, 2017. The second year of the Program will begin in 2018.
