Kuwait City, Kuwait – Limak Inşaat Kuwait, a fully-owned subsidiary of Limak Group of Companies established through the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), held a graduation ceremony in Istanbul for the first graduating batch of its university-level training program for aspiring female engineers, “Kuwait’s Engineer Girls”. In partnership with Turkey’s Boğaziçi University, the 200-hour internship and training program celebrated 30 Kuwaiti female students who are enrolled in Kuwait University’s undergraduate and graduate engineering programs.
The graduating students were awarded a Business Technology Education Council (BTEC) Management and Leadership certification recognized in over 100 countries, a Certificate from Boğaziçi Lifelong Learning Center (BULLC), and a Certificate of Field Training from Kuwait University.
Launched on May 8, 2017, the ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls’ program is a joint project implemented through a partnership between Kuwait University, Turkey’s Boğaziçi University and Limak Inşaat Kuwait. The project-based learning program consists of 200 training hours divided into seven modules with an aim to empower students’ leadership and management skills and help them envision their future careers in engineering.
More than 90 people attended the ceremony including Limak Foundation Chairwoman Ebru Özdemir, Undersecretary of Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works Awatef Al-Ghunaim, BULLC Director Dr. Tamer Atabarut, Kuwait University College of Engineering and Petroleum Director of Engineering Training and Alumni Center Dr. Bader Albusairi, and H.E. the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Turkey Ghassan Yousef Abdulbari Alzawawi, who all spoke at the ceremony to commemorate the graduates’ achievements and the program’s success.
“Investing in Kuwait’s future with more than one project at a time, we are proud to be here today to celebrate the graduation of the first edition of the “Kuwait’s Engineer Girls” program who are now equipped to take part in the development of the country and contribute to Kuwait’s future vision and ambitious mega projects,” said Limak Foundation Chairwoman Ebru Özdemir.
“The most important and valuable component in construction projects are engineers and through our program we are helping to prepare them for their future. I congratulate the girls for their success and wish them the best of luck in their future careers whether they choose to join Limak on our projects in Kuwait, or another opportunity to better their country.”
